LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A 29-year-old Lake Charles woman has
been sentenced to one year in prison for causing a fiery
two-vehicle accident in 2004 that led to the deaths of a woman and
her 9-year-old daughter.
Heather Alford was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years, but Judge
David Ritchie suspended 9 years of the sentence on two counts of
vehicular negligent homicide and one count each of vehicular
negligent injuring and first-offense drunken driving.
The vehicular homicide charges stem from the deaths of
40-year-old Collette Fontenot and her daughter, Holly.
The vehicular negligent injuring charge stem from injuries
suffered by 41-year-old Robert Fontenot, the driver of a Jeep that
was rear-ended by Alford.
After Alford completes her time in prison she will be on five
years of supervised probation.
