Woman sentenced in manslaughter case

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Authorities say a 42-year-old New Orleans woman diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic admitted she stabbed her lover in the heart with a steak knife.

She said she did so in a haze of jealousy and rage.

The Advocate reports Yolanda Davis pleaded guilty in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Monday to manslaughter.

She accepted a sentence of 20 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Davis entered her plea in the December 2010 death of 49-year-old Renee Johnson.
