NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced a 54-year-old woman to more than four years in prison for forging checks from her employer to help buy a boat and pay off her personal vehicles.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten says U.S. District Judge Kurt D. Engelhardt handed down the 54-month sentence Wednesday against Cynthia H. Rogers, of Ponchatoula, for making, uttering and possessing forged checks of an organization.

Court documents show Rogers worked as an accounting clerk at a realty business in New Orleans' French Quarter. Letten's office said from Dec. 14, 2010 to about April 12, 2011, authorities found 21 forged checks belonging to the business in Rogers' possession.
