LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Lake Charles woman has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the deaths of two people whose car was stalled on the U.S. 171 Calcasieu River Bridge in April 2012.
The American Press reports that 26-year-old Megan Lynn Schexnider pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular negligent injuring.
She was scheduled to go to trial this week.
Schexnider will be sentenced July 26.
Prosecutor Jonathan Blake said Vincent Austin was changing a tire in the northbound lane of the bridge on April 22, 2012, when the accident occurred, killing him and his 13-year-old daughter.
Blake said Schexnider had several drugs in her system that caused impairment at the time of the accident.
