Woman planning to meet man she met on Facebook robbed at gunpoint

A woman who arranged to meet a man she met on a social media website was robbed at gunpoint after she arrived where they agreed to meet.

According to Sheriff Louis Ackal, on December 3, 2013, deputies responded to an armed robbery that was reported at 719 Mixon Street.

According to deputies, a 28-year-old woman had been communicating with a man online through Facebook and was going to meet him in person for the first time. The victim arrived at the address and was confronted by two armed men. The suspects stole an undisclosed amount of money and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspects are described as two black males, both 5'8" tall, wearing grey hooded sweatshirts and blue jean pants.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident and ask if anyone has information involving the incident to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-369-3711.
