LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A Calcasieu Parish grand jury has indicted a Lake Charles woman on a count of second-degree murder in the December slaying of her husband, 62-year-old Joseph Sias.
The indictment was returned Thursday.
The American Press reports 52-year-old Darlene Sias was arrested on Dec. 22 at the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office after meeting with investigators a second time to discuss the case.
Sias reported her husband's death at about 7 a.m. Dec. 21. She reportedly told authorities he was unresponsive. Deputies sent to Sias' home found Joseph Sias dead.
Authorities say Sias' death likely stemmed from a domestic dispute and that Darlene Sias was a suspect from the beginning.
Sias remains in jail on $1 million bond set by state District Judge Mike Canaday.
