LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A 40-year-old Lake Charles woman has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the shooting death of her live-in boyfriend on Feb. 29, 2010.
Before sentencing Renee Tyler on Wednesday, Judge Robert Wyatt
denied requests for a new trial and post-trial judgment of
acquittal.
Tyler was convicted Dec. 2 on charges
of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. The obstruction charge accused her of hiding the 9 mm handgun used in the slaying. The weapon was never found.
Wyatt imposed a concurrent two-year prison term on the
obstruction count.
Tyler was convicted in the death of 34-year-old Elliot T. Thomas.
