Woman gets 50 years in dress shot shooting

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - State District Judge Clayton Davis has sentenced a 27-year-old Lake Charles woman to 50 years in prison for the shooting of two dress shop employees in July.
The American Press reports Sharonda Obey pleaded guilty in January to two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Police say Obey entered the store on July 22 and opened fire.
Prosecutor Jonathan Blake told the court Wednesday that Obey planned the shooting and intended to kill the two victims. He said each victim was shot multiple times.
Defense attorney Ralph Williams says Obey never tried to diminish the severity of her acts and has accepted responsibility from the beginning.
