OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) - An Opelousas woman has been arrested after a crash that killed her passenger. State police identified the victim as 53-year-old Larry Coon of Opelousas.

The driver, 45-year-old Jeanne Saucier, faces charges of vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and careless operation. Troopers say Saucier was driving a car west on La. Highway 178 Sunday when she failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the road and hit a tree on the passenger side. Investigators say Coon wasn't wearing a seat belt.
