LORANGER, La. (AP) - Officials say a 57-year-old woman was killed when she couldn't escape from a fire at her Loranger home.
The State Fire Marshal's Office says the Loranger Fire Department responded to reports of a fire on La. Highway 40 about 1:15 p.m. Thursday.
Officials say firefighters went into the home and found the body of Jane Vidal in the bathroom.
They say Vidal's husband was sleeping when the fire broke out and managed to escape through a bedroom window.
Vidal was airlifted to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, the release says.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
