Woman convicted of manslaughter in Grant Parish

COLFAX, La. (AP) - A 52-year-old woman has been convicted of manslaughter in the 2009 death of a Pineville man.
Grant Parish District Attorney Jay Lemoine says Brenda Rains was living in the Prospect community in June 2009 when she shot 57-year-old Alvis Wayne Lewis in the back. Lemoine says Rains was convicted Friday after her trial began July 18.
The Town Talk reports sentencing is set for Oct. 6.
