Woman attacks boyfriend with hammer

Relationship Violence Ends in Arrest


On November 19, 2009, at approximately 7:30 pm, officers with the Lafayette Police Department responded to the 300 block of Lafayette Street regarding a disturbance. The victim, a 52 year old male of Lafayette, advised officers that the suspect, his current girlfriend, followed him to a residence in the 300 block of Delahoussaye Drive. As the victim was speaking with a female friend, the suspect drove up in a vehicle and allegedly struck the victim. The suspect fled the scene and the victim returned to the 300 block of Lafayette Street where he contacted the police. Before police arrived on the scene, the suspect walked up to the victim and attacked him with a hammer. The suspect, Christine Marie Gotch (26) was arrested at the scene and charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. The victim refused medical attention at the scene, but later drove to an area hospital for treatment.
