After a report of a run-a-way child this past weekend, Crowley Police located the teen and have arrested a Crowley woman for her involvement in aiding the teen during this incident.
Officers received a report of the run-a-way teen and began searching various locations to find her. After numerous attempts to find her, officers received information that the teen was staying at a residence in Rhone Village. Officers along with the juvenile investigator went to the residence in question.
“The officers met with the tenant and asked if the teen was present at the residence. After being asked repeatedly, the tenant advised that the teen was not present and had not been there during the time frame she was missing,” stated Chief K.P. Gibson.
Officers then obtained permission to search the residence and located the run-a-way teen hiding in a bedroom of the residence. The teen was taken into custody and returned to the custody of her parent.
The adult who was hiding the teen was arrest for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. She has been identified as Vikie Davis, 41 of Crowley. She has been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail on this charge.
Crowley Police utilized a service offered free of service called “A Child is Missing”. This service is used to make phone calls to residents in the area in attempt to locate missing persons or run-a-way children. “During this incident we received a large amount of calls from citizens who were contacted by the service of “A Child is Missing”. “It was nice to see the community get involved to help locate this teen. The service does work,” stated Chief Gibson.
