Woman arrested, accused of helping inmate escape

An Alexandria woman was arrested after she allegedly picked up an inmate from his work-release job, allowing him to escape custody.

The inmate, Nathaniel Lamont White, 33, 400 B John Allison Dr., Alexandria, is still being sought after he left a work site during the night shift last night. Deputies when they arrived to pick him up after his shift, they discovered he was missing.

Deputies with the Corrections Security Section say they have arrested an accomplice, Cynthia Marie Clifton, 51, 2509 Culpepper St., Alexandria, on a charge of accessory after the fact to simple escape. Investigators say they determined Clifton picked up White from his work place, and are interviewing other possible accomplices in this case.

The U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders Task Force is also assisting in this investigation.

White is described as a black male, 6'2" tall, 230 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, has a tattoo of "LIL SLIM" inside his left arm. White is currently serving a sentence for Felony Theft. Anyone having information on Whites whereabouts is asked to call the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office at (318)473-6700.
