Woman accused of lying to deputies about the rape of a juvenile

A 27-year-old Amelia woman is accused of lying to deputies about the rape of a juvenile.

Deputies in St. Mary Parish say Christa Yarbrough was arrested on May 5, 2014 on a warrant for obstruction of justice. The warrant stems from an April 16th investigation into the aggravated rape of a juvenile female.

During the course of the investigation, detectives say Yarbrough claimed to know nothing of the crime. However, deputies say they later discovered several communications indicating that Yarbrough purposefully denied having any knowledge of the crime. Yarbrough was booked into jail and later released on a recognizance bond.

Last month, we told you about the arrest of a Morgan City man accused of entering an Amelia home and raping a 16-year-old girl. Atlas White was arrested in New Iberia by federal marshals.
