Woman accused of doctor shopping

A 44-year-old Lake Charles woman is accused of doctor shopping say police.

On April 30, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Vice detectives arrested Donna Y. Batchan after a month long investigation revealed she allegedly visited over 90 different doctors in Louisiana and Texas to obtain an excessive amount of controlled medication. Police say Batchan obtained 2,500 Hydrocodone pills between January 2010 and March 2014.

Batchan was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with nine counts of prohibited acts all schedules (doctor shopping) and released on an $18,000 bond set by Judge Ron Ware.

After further investigation, Vice detectives re-arrested Batchan on May 2. She was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with additional 12 counts of prohibited acts all schedules (doctor shopping) and released on a $27,500 bond set by Judge Robert Wyatt.
