LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A 26-year-old Lake Charles woman accused of cruelty to a juvenile is out on bond after state Judge Ronald Ware reduced her bond from $1.1 million to $40,000.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso says Lan Le was arrested Sept. 15 and charged with cruelty to a juvenile and second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after her 2-year-old foster child was treated for second- and third-degree burns on both legs below the knees.
Le told investigators that she momentarily left the child unattended and he stepped into a tub of hot water.
Defense attorney Cliff Newman told the American Press Le's case was presented to a grand jury last week, and the case was pretermitted, or put aside.
Ware ordered the bond reduction after being told of the grand jury's outcome.
