Witness caught alleged burglars in the act

 A witness caught two alleged burglars trying to rob a neighbor near Loureville.

Sheriff Louis Ackal advises that on June 19, 2013, at 12:51 p.m. deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the 1300 Block of Marshfield Road in reference to an attempted burglary.

According to Ackal, a witness reported a suspicious vehicle leaving his neighbor's residence and was able to block the path of the suspected vehicle.

The suspects fled from the vehicle on foot and were apprehended by deputies. Items, later identified as stolen, were found on Erika Chapman, 24, and Jerry Rogers, 24. Chapman and Rogers were taken into custody by deputies.

According to Ackal, further investigation linked the two suspects to another burglary that occurred in the area of Parc Perdue Subdivision in Iberia Parish.

Detectives also arrested a third suspect believed to be associated with the initial suspects. Detectives located John Richard age 36, at the 3500 Block of Coulee Road, Iberia Parish. During the investigation, detectives located illegal narcotics in Richards's possession, according to Ackal.

Erika Chapman age 24 charged with simple battery and simple burglary.

Jerry Rogers age 24 charged with simple burglary.

John Richard age 36 charged with intent to distribute schedule I narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
