WINNSBORO, La. (AP) - Winnsboro's 26th annual Franklin Parish Catfish Festival is Saturday and thousands are expected to swarm the city's historic downtown district.
Festival director Paul Price Jr. says the event has put Winnsboro and the parish "on the map."
The News-Star reports the three music stages will showcase old-time gospel to the blues of Bow Legged Rooster from Jonesboro, Ark. Festival officials say the band created a buzz last year and they're looking forward to this year's performance. Grammy winning Zydeco band, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, also will perform.
Fans also will visit more than 300 vendors and an antique car show.
Festival proceeds will go to various community projects including the Children's Park in Winnsboro and Franklin Parish Christmas Parade.
