The Winn Parish Sheriff's Office (WPSO) and divers are still actively searching for a a 3-year-old boy who fell into the water and was swept into a creek, deputies say.
WPSO indicated to station KALB out of Alexandria that deputies responded to a call around 10:30 a.m. From Spillway Creek, where the boy had been with his parents near US 84, a few miles west of Winnfield.
The station also reported the sheriff told them that the boy had slipped on a "concrete structure along the creek" and fell into a culvert.
KALB also said that Wildlife and Fisheries, State Police, and dive teams from Natchitoches have been assisting with the search for most of the day. WPSO deputies tell KATC that the search is still ongoing into the evening.
Other than the boy's hat located on the other side of the creek, KALB reports that there have been no other signs of the child.
