A Kaplan wife remains in jail tonight after, police said, after an argument escalated into an attempt to take her husband's life.
After the couple's argument inside their house at 709 Second St., Kaplan Police Chief Boyd Adams, their confrontation moved to yard and then to street, where Anita Allen Richard, 63, allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife as he attempted to leave.
It was unclear how many wounds Richard's husband suffered, but Adams said the knife punctured the husband's upper back and penetrated one of his lungs. The extent of the husband's lung injuries are unknown at this time, but Adams said that the husband was released from the hospital.
"We've been called to the residence a number of times during the last couple of years, but never for anything violent," the chief said.
Richard was booked into the city jail and later was transferred to the Vemilion Parish Sheriff's Office facility, where she was charged with attempted second degree murder. Her bond was set at $200,000.
