We asked the Coast Guard what many of you have been asking: Why don't they step in and rescue those aboard the Carnival Triumph? The spokesperson says unless there is a medical emergency, the government agency is simply acting as an escort for the ship into Mobile, AL. They can't transfer the more than 3,000 people on the ship safely, and although it's uncomfortable, it's their goal to save lives. So far, they have had to transfer one person off the Carnival ship because of medical concerns.
