Local Forager Kelly Landrieu will lead a Local 101 class Friday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lafayette Economic Development Authority, located at 211 E. Devalcourt St.
The free program will cover in-depth information on Whole Foods Market's quality standards, food safety, retail-ready packaging, regulatory requirements and the process to becoming a supplier.
"Louisiana is known for its amazing food and culture, and Local 101 is a great way to understand necessary steps in becoming a supplier for Whole Foods Market," Landrieu notes. "We're excited about the opportunity to showcase local products and flavors."
Local 101 is free and open to all Louisiana growers, food artisans and body care suppliers. For reservations, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Whole Foods Market will open its first-ever store in Lafayette on Wednesday, Sept. 24 with store hours 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and coffee bar opening daily at 7:30 a.m. Located at 4247 Ambassador Caffery Parkway, the 36,200-square-foot Whole Foods Market Ambassador store will employ approximately 150 team members.
