Who's Killing Jennings? Part Six

Five years of mounting questions but few answers are creating uncertainty and a "rumor mill" in Jennings. A grapevine that's causing mistrust among nervous residents and among those who are there to protect them.

For answers....we took some of those "street rumors" to Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff Ricky Edwards, not only for answers but perhaps for peace of mind for the citizens living under a continuing cloud of uncertainty.

Ella Boxie lives in South Jennings and says the murders are part of daily conversation, raising more questions for the sheriff and the investigation. One question stems from the lack of information about evidence where the victims' bodies have been found.

Sheriff Ricky Edwards says the investigation is sensitive and that he can't release as much information as the people of Jennings would like but offers assurance that his task force is doing everything they can to solve the eight murders.

Some of the mistrust in law enforcement is that the killer could be a member of law enforcement. To this, the sheriff says the involvement of federal, state and local agencies would uncover such corruption.

Sheriff Edwards says " It would take a tremendous, a tremendous corrupt cover-up to cover up from the local level all the way up to the federal level."

If a lead involved an officer, the sheriff says he would investigate that officer according to protocol.

The sheriff says there is now an 85-thousand dollar reward for information leading to an arrest and urges the public to share information with his office.
