Excitement is growing over the Powerball jackpot, which has sky-rocketed to $600 million. It's now the second largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history and ticket buyers everywhere are lining up hoping to snag the winning numbers.
It will take a lot of luck, but many are hopeful that they have the winning ticket. "I know my chances are one in a zillion, so you know it's a game that's all it is, it's just a game," said Geri Brown. "I would give a great deal of it to charity, and the rest, I guess I would surprise my husband, haha," said Anne Padgett.
Bill Bell said, "I've read that just in the state of Virginia on Saturday they're going to sell probably 9,000 tickets a minute, so it might reach $700 million. You never know."
If I won the Powerball I'd first give to charity and my family, but then I'd buy a house, maybe this one in Lafayette listed at 3.9 million. And with all the money I would also want to have some fun, and play golf and hit the driving range every day for the rest of my life.
But golf wouldn't be my only splurge, I'd have to get my favorite po boy sandwich every day as well. Jake Frederick with Olde Tyme Grocery said, " It cost you about 10 dollars a day for the rest of your life, probably say at least a million dollars." Chances of winning are slim, but we can all dream. "I think it's a hundred and seventy-seven million to one, so i have a good chance huh? haha," Bill Bell said.
