On November 17 at 2:00 a.m., a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputy conducted a stop on a truck at the intersection of Bee Tree Street and Sampson Street in Westlake for a traffic violation. The driver pulled into a nearby parking lot after the deputy activated his unit's lights and sirens and struck a curb. When the deputy approached the truck and spoke with the driver, Richard H. LeDoux, he detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath, along with slurred speech, according to deputies. LeDoux also advised the deputy that he had been drinking at a local bar prior to driving.
After LeDoux performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test, he was arrested and transferred to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, where a breath intoxilizer test revealed he was over the legal limit.
LeDoux, who has three prior DWI arrests since 2008, was booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with DWI 4th.
Judge Michael Canaday set his bond at $40,150.
