West Monroe names city's new police chief

A 23-year veteran of the West Monroe Police Department has been named the city's new police chief.
Mayor Dave Norris on Monday named Maj. Jeff Terrell to the post. His appointment still must be confirmed by the West Monroe Board of Aldermen, which will consider the appointment during Tuesday's regular meeting.
Terrell has served West Monroe since 1990 in the patrol and detective divisions and since September 2012 as major of the detective division. He is a 2007 FBI National Academy graduate and a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Maj. Jerry Stansbury has served as interim chief of the city's police department since Christopher Elg left in December to take a position as police chief in Tequesta, Fla., just north of Miami.
