West Monroe man convicted of arson

MONROE, La. (AP) A Ouachita Parish jury convicts a 38-year-old West Monroe man of burning down an apartment building after his girlfriend threw him out.

Assistant District Attorney Brandon Brown of the 4th Judicial District says jurors took two hours Wednesday to find Charles Lindsey guilty of aggravated arson and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.

Nobody was hurt in the fire Aug. 22, but it destroyed eight apartments and left 15 families homeless.

According to an arrest affidavit, West Monroe police told Lindsey the night before the fire not to return to the apartment he and the woman had shared.
