ST FRANCISVILLE, La. (AP) - The West Feliciana Parish School Board has voted to resume a career counseling program it dropped several years ago when state funding was frozen.

Supervisor Al Lemoine told the board Tuesday the money to resume the program is coming from a federal grant routed through Baton Rouge Community College.

In a joint agreement with the community college and Career Compass of Louisiana, a nonprofit organization, a counselor will visit West Feliciana High School every other Friday to offer assistance to students applying for college or vocational schools.

Lemoine says the counselor, who lives in the parish, also works with guidance counselors to see that high school seniors "make a seamless transition to post-secondary education."
