BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A Baton Rouge police detective says a
woman allegedly strangled by one alleged serial killer had
reportedly associated with another.
Sgt. Chris Johnson testified during cross-examination that he
had been told that 46-year-old Renee Newman often associated with
Sean Vincent Gillis, who is serving life sentences for two murders.
The Advocate reports that Johnson was being questioned Friday in
a pretrial hearing for Jeffery Lee Guillory, who is accused of
killing Newman in 2002.
Louisiana State Police DNA analyst Julia Naylor testified Friday
that DNA found on Newman's body and that of 36-year-old Florida
Edwards was almost certainly Guillory's.
She said there was only a one in 9.76 quadrillion chance that
the DNA was another man's.
