Parish President Joey Durel can be seen on GMA every Thursday around 6:40am to answer your questions.
This week Joey Durel answered the following question:
From Mike Collado: Why is the Camellia widening at Johnston Street taking so long, and why can't we work on projects like that at night like surrounding states?
Answer: We can choose to restrict the contractors when we draw up the contracts (restricting timing of when they work certain locations or requiring that they work at night), but if we restrict them the cost of the project will go up, therefore we would not be getting the best price to get the work done. So, we would have to sacrifice quantity of work we can get done in Lafayette if we want to place restrictions on when they can do the work. With all of the needed road work in Lafayette, we do not often make the decision to pay extra to dictate those types of terms.
