In the wake of soaking rains and storms across the area Friday, a winter chill will return to the area for this weekend.
Highs Saturday will struggle to reach 50 degrees with sun and rather breezy conditions, while lower 50s are expected Sunday under mostly sunny skies.
Expect a light freeze Sunday morning with temperatures dropping perhaps into the upper 20s; not a pipe-buster, but certainly the tender vegetation and pets will need attention.
The weather "rollercoaster" will continue into next week with milder temperatures along with high rain chances developing into New Year's Day. A stalled system along the Gulf Coast could ultimately translate to the threat of heavy rainfall at least through next Wednesday.
Rainfall totals late Monday through Thursday could be in the 3-5 inch range.
