Here's what's happening around Acadiana this weekend.
Anyone looking for some thrills should check out the USASFMC Motorcycle Run and Parachute Jump, presented by the U.S. Army Special Forces.The event is happening at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Breaux Bridge. Following the event, everyone is invited to lunch at Buck and Johnny's Pizzeria. The event is free of charge.
Also on Saturday, Darrell Bourque, Louisiana's poet Laureate, will be signing copies of his book "In Ordinary Light: New and Selected Poems" at the Barnes and Noble on Johnston Street. He will do a short reading at 3 p.m. and be there until 5 p.m.
Saturday will be a great day for one hundred lucky kids from Lafayette and Vermillion Parish. They will travel on a "Fantasy Flight" to meet Santa and his elves! Their "flight" will be taking off from the Lafayette Regional Airport.
On Sunday, there will be fun for the whole family at the "Pillows of Hope Community Christmas." The event will take place at the Domingue Center on Mudd Avenue and will feature free food, DJs, live bands, and Santa Claus.
For their 45th Anniversary celebration, Holy Cross Catholic Church will present a Habitat House for a family in Lafayette. For a look at the house, there will be a tour at 3 p.m. with the formal blessing happening at 4 p.m.
