MANDEVILLE, La. (AP) - A water purification company in St. Tammany Parish is building a new fabrication and office facility in Mandeville.
MECO Inc. announced its plans Wednesday at an event with Gov. Bobby Jindal, saying the $11 million project will create 127 new jobs. The positions will pay an average yearly salary of $47,000 plus benefits, according to the governor's office.
The new facility is expected to open by the end of 2013, with the new jobs in place by 2018.
Louisiana's economic development department is giving the company a $500,000 forgivable, five-year loan and a relocation grant of up to $450,000 as part of the incentive deal. MECO also will get tax breaks offered by the state.
MECO makes water treatment equipment for the pharmaceutical, defense and marine oil and gas industries.
