Water line repair to leave residents, school without water

Mamou Elementary School will be closed tomorrow will city workers replace a leaking water line.

According to Mayor Ricky Fontenot, approximately 400 residents between First and Fifth Streets will be without water during the project. The school, which sits on Fourth Street, will also be without water.

Superintendent Toni Hamlin of the Evangeline Parish School System says only Mamou Elementary will be closed.  She says the other two schools in town will be open as usual tomorrow.

Fontenot says the work is expected to last only one day and that the school should be open on Friday.

Fontenot adds that a boil advisory will be put in place once water is restored to the area.
