The first floor, including the emergency room, at Abbeville General Hospital is flooded this morning following a water line burst. Tom Pigott, a nursing supervisor at the hospital, says a line on the second floor burst around 6:30 this morning, sending three to four inches of water pouring into the first floor. According to Pigott patients will not be affected and that critical services can still be performed. However, he says ambulances are being diverted to other hospitals while crews work to clean up the emergency room.
Clean up crews are currently on scene, and more are expected to arrived in the next few hours. Pigott says the Office of Emergency Preparedness has been notified as a precaution.
