Wanted: Carjacking suspect in Lafayette

Lafayette Police are searching for a carjacking suspect that took off in the victim's car. Police say around 4:30 p.m., they responded to a call in the 2800 block of Ambassador Caffery. This is the parking lot at the intersection of Ambassador Caffery and Congress where Albertson's is located.

The female victim told police the suspect approached her from behind, produced a handgun, and demanded the victim's keys to the vehicle. The suspect fled in the woman's white 2006 Mazda Tribute, bearing Louisiana license plate number "PIL340". The victim was not injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'6" tall, 30-40 years of age wearing a red cap and blue shorts.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
