Wal Mart Hit and Run Arrest

A Wal Mart hit and run suspect has been arrested in Thibodaux.

Jacob J. Landry, 22, was arrested by Thibodaux Police Department on a warrant for St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office for Hit and Run, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Reckless Operation with an Accident.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a September 12th hit and run in the Bayou Vista Wal Mart parking lot.  Landry is believed to have been behind the wheel of a black 1997 Nissan Maxima that hit 60 year old Palma Dehart as she walked in the parking lot. The driver also hit another woman, before driving off.

Landry was booked into the St. Mary parish jail on Tuesday. He's since been released on a $10,000 bond.

The case is still under investigation.

A 60-year-old woman is still recovering after being struck by a car at a Wal-mart parking lot in Bayou Vista.

Just after the woman was hit, the driver hit the gas and struck another pedestrian. Then, the driver sped away.

It's something you'll only find on video taken from Wal-mart security cameras show the driver speeding through a cross-walk and hitting 60-year-old Palma Dehart.

As of Tuesday evening, Dehart is still in the hospital and the driver, still on the run.

Police say they're looking for a black male in his teens to mid-twenties. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a red cap at the time of the hit and run.

St. Mary Parish Deputies believe the car is stolen from the Thibodaux area. It's a Black 1997 Nissan Maxima with Louisiana tags: SAD 028

If you have any information regarding the suspect or the vehicle, contact the St. Mary Sheriff's Office Detective Division at (985) 384-1622.
