Wade Lohse, the man accused of walking out of a Lafayette courtroom the day he was to face trial for vehicular homicide, will stay in Philadelphia until at least May. His hearing, scheduled this morning, was postponed until May 1.
Lohse was on the run for more than three weeks until the U.S. Marshals Service found him in Philadelphia. He has since been in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility awaiting extradition. We do not know why his hearing was postponed, and a phone call to his public defender in Philadelphia went unanswered.
Among other charges, Lohse is charged with vehicular homicide in Cacie Barras McGrew's death. He was allegedly drunk when he crossed the center line on the Youngsville Highway and hit McGrew's car in June 2011.
