Volunteers are needed to help with "The Wall That Heals" during its stop in Lafayette next month. People are needed to serve as Honor Guards and to help in reading the 58,272 names of veterans that are etched in the replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. "The reading of the names will be 24 hours a day until all have been read," Thomas Grote said.
The wall will be in Lafayette from Thursday, Nov. 17 - Monday, Nov. 21, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on N. University Ave. Grote said monetary donations are needed to help defray the costs of bringing the wall to Lafayette. "We have also located a Vietnam era Huey Helicopter which can be flown in if we can obtain the needed funds," he added.
