Volunteers Needed For Annual Homeless Survey

The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Continuum of Care (CoC) is asking for volunteers to assist with its annual "Point in Time Homeless Count Survey" taking place Tuesday, February 26, 2013. The count is taken across the 5 parish region of Imperial Calcasieu and will help determine the amount of federal funding available for homeless assistance in the State of Louisiana and each CoC region.

Between 50 to 100 volunteers are needed and are asked to take part in an important pre-count training session on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 8:30-noon. The training session will be held at the First United Methodist Church on 812 Kirkman Street in Lake Charles, LA. Training will be conducted by The Calcasieu Medical Reserve Corps.

To sign up as a volunteer please contact their office at (337) 656-0839 by Thursday, February 21, 2013.

Any level of participation and/or assistance the community at large can provide towards this effort will be greatly appreciated. Residents who have questions or need more information about the 2013 "Point-In-Time Homeless Count Survey", please contact Angela Jouett at (337) 656-0839 or Umeih Thomas at (337) 721-5045 for assistance.
