U.S. Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) today made the following statement regarding the U.S. Supreme Court hearing arguments today in the Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties contraception case.
"In the four years since it was signed into law, it's clear that Obamacare has been nothing short of a disaster. One problem in particular is a mandate within the healthcare law forcing companies to provide contraception, even if doing so goes against those organizations' beliefs," Vitter said. "The ability to practice the faith we choose is one of our great Constitutional rights. But with this contraceptive mandate, the Obama administration is stomping on that right.
On January 28, 2014, Vitter along with Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), John Cornyn (R-Texas), and Mike Lee (R-Utah) challenged the mandate. The Senators filed an amicus brief opposing the contraceptive mandate.
