Violent Crimes Down in Lafayette and Louisiana

Violent crimes are down in Louisiana, the rates fell five-percent from 2008 to 2009.

The FBI released the data which shows Lafayette violent crimes dropping from 1,276 to 1,115. The numbers include murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary ,larceny and arson. There were seven murders in Lafayette in 2009, compared to ten the year before and almost 30 fewer rapes.
    
The rate however is up in Baton Rouge, which had more violent crimes than New Orleans.
