An Acadiana state senator has filed a constitutional amendment that would allow state judges to serve past the age of 70. Currently, judges may not seek reelection once they reach that age. However, the amendment, authored by Senator Eric LaFleur, D-Ville Platte, would strike that language from the state constitution. If two-thirds of the legislature approves the amendment, it would go to voters in the November 2014 election.
