A Ville Platte priest is moving to Rome to serve in the Office of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. The Rev. Joshua Guillory will continue to serve at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and St. Joseph until Nov. 1.
The Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura is the church's court at its highest level. Guillory will serve on the appellate court as an English-speaking member, although he's well-versed in several languages. "He's incredibly intelligent. In an international court, that's incredibly important," Vicar General Msgr. W. Curtis Mallet said.
Guillory speaks Italian, French, and "he reads and understands Spanish and he knows some German," Mallet said. Guillory has served in Ville Platte since 2011 and studied at St. Josephs' Seminary in Covington, the Pontifical North American College, the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas, and the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome.
