A Ville Platte man is behind bars for multiple break-ins. On Friday, November 23 at approximately 11:40 p.m. the Ville Platte Police Department received a report of a burglary at a local bank. Upon arrival officers observed damage to the ATM machine as well as the back door to the bank. The investigation was assigned to Detective Daigle and through video surveillance was able to locate a suspect in this case. While investigating the incident Detective Daigle received other reports of burglaries in the area. On Saturday, November 24, a local loan company was broken into at approximately 1:00 a.m. and an attempted break in at a local convenience store on November 24, 2012 at approximately 3:10 a.m. The investigation of these incidents led to the arrest of Donald Ray Edwards, 47 years old, of 410 South David St., Ville Platte.
Edwards was charged with 2 counts of burglary, 1 count of attempted burglary and 3 counts of criminal damage to property. Edwards is currently incarcerated with no bond information available at this time.
