A man trying to sell his Play Station 4 game system through a free online advertisement was robbed at gunpoint last night when he met up with people claiming to be interested in purchasing it, according to Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal.
The sellers apparently fell victim to an attempted armed robbery before the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office responded to an armed robbery at the 1000 Block of E. Admiral Doyle.
According to deputies, the victim was attempting to sell a Play Station 4 through Craigslist to a man that was interested in buying it. The victim met with two men in the parking lot of the New Iberia Wal-Mart. The men allegedly snatched the game system and attempted to flee without paying the victim for the item.
The victim and his cousin, who had accompanied him to the transaction, were then involved in a physical altercation with the two suspects and were able to obtain the game system back. According to the victim the two suspects then left the area driving a Silver Dodge Charger.
A short time later, the victim received a call from one of the suspects claiming there was a misunderstanding and that he did want to purchase the Play Station, according to deputies. The victim agreed to meet with the suspects again; this time at Walgreens on E. Admiral Doyle.
The victim met the same suspects at Walgreens, the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the Play Station. The suspects took the Play Station and fled in the same Silver Dodge Charger.
The suspects are described as two black males, one wearing a red sweatshirt and the other wearing a blue sweatshirt and driving a Silver Dodge Charger. Detectives are asking if anyone has information involving the incident to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-369-3711.
