Victims' hometown reacts to brutal murder

A UL student is dead and his roomate in critical condition.
Lafayette Police are still looking for a suspect after the two were brutally beaten with a metal object in their home on McKinley Street.
20-year-old Kenny Donnelly from Alexandria was killed.
Police believe more than one suspect is responsible for the brutal beating.
In the victims' hometown of Alexandria, former classmates and teachers are still in shock.
It's homecoming day at Kenny Donnelly's old high school in Alexandria.
"We just were trying to figure out what happened," Morgan Vilar said. "We had no idea- just that he was dead."
When Vilar heard Kenny Donnelly would be going to her college, she was excited.
Both Vilar and Donnelly graduated from Holy Savior Menard High School in Alexandria; and both earned the title, "Most Spirited."
Friday is Menard's homecoming, but Vilar has to go alone.
"He would have been at the parade, he would've been at the pep rally," Vilar said. "You would have seen him."
Three years ago, Kenny Donnelly would've been at the football field on homecoming- cheering on his Fighting Eagles, but this years' homecoming has a little bit of a different feeling.
"A lot of comments on his Facebook were 'missing his smile, missing his laugh.'"
John Fryer is a religion teacher at Donnelly's old high school.
As he browsed through the class of 2008 year book, he remembers Kenny's personality.
"As I was reading through it," Fryer recalled," some tears came to my eye."
Fryer and Vilar are now left with only questions.
"Why him? Did he do something?" Vilar asked. "I can't imagine him upsetting someone so bad that they would hurt him."
Police are still looking for suspects and ask if you have any information that can lead to an arrest, call the Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
