Victim shot during attempted armed robbery

A man was shot during an attempted robbery and the St. Mary Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance identifying two suspects.

According to a news release from the SMSO, the shooting occurred outside of a lounge on Hwy. 182 in Amelia, near the Greenwood overpass. Around 2:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2013, three men approached the victim and attempted to rob him. During the attempt, the victim was shot and later transported to a hospital. The victim is in fair condition.

Investigators have identified two persons of interest whom they believe may have information regarding this crime.

One is described as a black male with a medium build, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet in height, aged 23 to 25 years old with a dark complexion, and black hair styled with short twists. He goes by the nickname of "Diddy."

The second is a black male with a medium build, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches in height, aged 19 to 20 years old who goes by the nickname of "Jay."
