Victim's Brother Thanks Community for Kindness

The victim of a home invasion and shooting continues to fight for his life. 31-year-old Yousef Balbeisi was shot after he confronted the person who broke into his Mimosa Place home. Balbeisi was found in and out of consciousness and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are not known at this time.

Balbeisi's brother, Nidal Balbeisi, released this statement regarding his brother:

"To say the last few days have been some of the worst for my family would be an understatement, but amidst the chaos and difficult times as we stand beside our brother, Yousef, we have seen the kindness of Acadiana. You have always been part of our family and when we are going through such tragedy, you are holding us up. I want to personally, and on behalf of my family, thank each and every person who has contacted us, prayed for us and wished the best for Yousef. We will never forget you. Yousef continues to fight and may he continue to find strength. Thank you all."
